Walmart Health is making its mark in Texas with plans to launch 18 clinics across Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston from this month through the fall.

These clinics are designed to provide a wide range of health services conveniently under one roof. From primary care, including same-day appointments, to dental care, behavioral health services, labs, X-rays, and telehealth, the clinics aim to offer comprehensive healthcare solutions.

The first two local clinics are set to open on April 23 in DeSoto and April 24 in Fort Worth, with three more clinics opening this week in the Houston area.

Each clinic spans approximately 5,400 square feet and will be located within Walmart Supercenters. Board-certified professionals will deliver services such as senior care annual checkups, dental cleanings, and chronic condition management.

Walmart’s expansion into healthcare began in 2019, with 55 clinics already operational across Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, and now Texas. Additionally, smaller clinics providing limited primary care services have been established in Garland, Royse City, Palestine, and Tyler since last year.

This move mirrors a trend among retailers who are increasingly integrating healthcare services into their offerings. Beyond traditional services like optical centers and pharmacies, chains like Walgreens and CVS are also venturing into healthcare through clinics such as VillageMD and MinuteClinics respectively.
